In a new study released by Travel + Leisure Magazine, where they ranked the Top 10 Places to Live based on cost of living and quality of life, Hickory was placed at the top as the perfect blend of lower cost of living with a great quality of life rating.
Hickory being an up and coming tech-hub with big companies like Google and Apple, and nestled in the foothills of beautiful North Carolina. Asides from Hickory also being ranked the most affordable place to live in the U.S., we also enjoy access to many amenities, such as parks and hiking trails, like the new Hickory Riverwalk that is being built.
According to the magazine, Hickory’s median housing price of $161,000 makes it a great option compared to more expensive nearby cities like Charlotte and Asheville. Many people are choosing to retire to Hickory for the great quality of life and cheaper housing, while very conveniently located nearby other major cities.
