Getting Your Home Ready for Warmer Weather

As we start seeing warmer days around Hickory, it's usually about the time many begin with their Spring-cleaning checklist.

A few small maintenance items now can help protect your biggest asset (your home), and prevent bigger issues later.

Here are a few simple things to consider this month:

1. Service your HVAC
If your unit hasn't been serviced in a while, this could help it run more efficiently and prolong its lifespan.

2. Clean Gutters & Check Drainage
April showers are coming quick, and a proper gutter system is the best way to prevent water issues in your foundation. Clearing out debris helps direct water exactly where you want it - away from the house.

3. Take a Tour of the Crawlspace
Nobody wants to do it, but putting eyes on what is going on under the house from time to time can help you to correct minor issues before they become big ones. Check for signs of moisture, rodents, and leaks in the ductwork or plumbing lines.

4. Test Sump Pump
If your property has a sump pump (like many in our area do) now is a great time to test it before the rain season.

5. Clean Dryer Vent Lines
Helps keep the dryer running efficiently, and reduces risk of fires.

6. Freshen Up Curb Appeal
Light landscaping cleanup, fresh mulch, or pressure washing high-traffic areas can make a noticeable difference.

Even if you’re not considering a move, maintaining your home consistently is one of the best ways to protect its long-term value.
And if you ever want a quick update on what homes similar to yours are currently selling for in our area, I’m always happy to send one over.
